This year Wye River had 2 guys teams and 1 girls team competing at the 2009 Australian IRB Championships at Kawana Waters, QLD, on the 24-26th July. Everybody had a fantastic time and we had mixed results. The guys team of Joel Craddock & Trent Delaney went well, making it through to the 2nd Round in the Tube Rescue. The girls team made up of Lisa Castle & Belinda Schultz made it through to the Quarter Finals in all four events. Then continued on to compete in the Semi Finals in the Mass Rescue. Sophie & Imogen Brough also crewed in their first aussies for Lisa & Belinda in the Teams event and did a great job. Overall a great carnival & we all looked the part.
RESCUE 2008 - WORLD LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!
Four members of the Wye River SLSC
competed in Germany at Rescue 2008, the World Lifesaving Championships, from the 21st-24th of July . Lisa Castle, Michael Barrand, Joel Craddock & Courtney Buchanan-Huhn competed in IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Racing. They came a respectable 2nd place in the Female Mass Rescue. Michael also competed in several Masters events. He went very well, coming 2nd in the 2km Run & Beach Flags, and 3rd in the Beach Sprint.
Congraulations to the team for representing Wye River so well on the World Stage.
We'd like thank the following business for their support which helped us purchase our uniforms and pay for some of our accommodation costs.

The Wye River IRB Racing Team is now two seasons old. Over winter we competed in several carnivals around Victoria and made the trek up to the 2008 Australian IRB Championships at Shellharbour, N.S.W. This season we have improved a lot. Last season we competed as two male teams and one female team made up of the following members:
Female Team 1
Driver: Lisa Castle
Crew: Belinda Schultz
Patient: Ryan Towers
Patient: Joel Craddock

OFFICIALS COURSE
Recently Life Saving Victoria (LSV)
has modified the Level 1 Officals Course. So now to gain your Level
1 Officals Award you are required to attend a seminar run by LSV.
See the dates below. After completing the seminar you then have to
attend a carnival and show the assesor that you're capable of being
an offical. There are no prerequisites for the award. You don't
even have to be a club member, you could just be a parent of a member.
The seminar runs for approximately 3-4 hours. Our club currently
only has a few officials but we need to supply one or two officials for every carnival we compete in. So if your
interested in becoming an Official then Click Here
to email Lisa Castle.
